Rank Better in Amazon

There is a common misconception among Internet users that getting started with Amazon is a daunting task. The truth is that getting a high ranking for a particular product is much easier in Amazon than getting a good ranking on Google for an individual website because Amazon itself has similar capabilities. Furthermore, you can get enormous traffic flow because Google normally gives Amazon priority when serving up results. Since most Amazon users have their credit card information on file, they can purchase your products with the simple click of a button.
Amazon Rankings in Google
Amazon rankings have never been this exciting. The site is one of the biggest on the Internet, and the number of tactics and techniques that can be used on the products listed on the site is enormous. We have successfully achieved top rankings on Google with Amazon products, even in the most competitive markets. Our strategies have been tried and tested, and have never resulted in any type of penalty from Amazon itself or any search engine. Optimal Amazon rankings in major search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing are critical to success on the Internet; the increase in sales will also improve your ranking in A9, Amazon’s search engine.
Amazon Optimization
Basic Amazon optimization is very important, so don’t overlook it. In real sense, this is Amazon SEO 101; which include following best practices prescribed by Amazon and ensuring that all page tags are correctly filled out. Send us an email or submit a consultancy form to see if we can help you dominate Amazon rankings.

Benefits of using a launch service

Launch services work by offering products at a large discount in order to get “honest” reviews. You’ll see reviews on products saying something like, “I purchased this product at a discounted price in exchange for an honest review”. You can set the amount of products you want to give away and a percentage of those buyers will leave a review.
By selling your products (even though its discounted) you get an increase in BSR (Best Sellers Rank) which is directly related to your organic search rankings. Boosting this ranking will bump your organic sales.
Getting reviews to your product will also help your rankings as it is fairly evident that is a part of Amazon’s ranking algorithm. Having reviews is very important for increasing your conversion rate which is also part of Amazon’s organic search ranking algorithm. Using a launch service to get reviews to a new product is incredibly effective and a great way to set the sentiment of the product (people see lots of positive reviews and they tend to think positively of it as well).
Selling lots of products allows you to boost your seller feedback which is also an important part of Amazon’s ranking algorithm. Having good metrics in fulfillment and customer service will let Amazon trust you more and won’t throttle your sales (especially if you’re a new seller). This is slightly less important if you’re selling FBA.

Risks of using a launch service

First and foremost, Amazon’s TOS says manipulating their Best Sellers Rank is bad and can be punishable. Interpreting that can be tricky, however. If you’re using PPC within Amazon to boost sales and get your BSR/rankings up then you’re manipulating Best Sellers Rank but in a way that Amazon makes available to you. You could easily make an argument you’re giving away products not to manipulate salesrank but to increase feedback and gauge your product’s viability in the market. Regardless, you’re opening yourself to Amazon interpreting what you’re doing and they aren’t the best for siding with sellers.
Another risk of using a launch service is the devaluation of reviews from discounted purchases. There have been rumblings from Amazon regarding the devaluation (and possibly removal or flagging of) reviews that were left after a discounted purchase. Before investing thousands of dollars into a launch service, you should consider the long-term viability and sustainability of the reviews.
After using a launch service you might notice a new seller on your listing. This happens pretty frequently. There are tons of sellers using the deals that launch services advertise in order to make some quick cash. They’ll purchase your discounted product and sell it on amazon for less than you. This can be harmful in brand degradation, customer service, and price dilution.

Conclusion

Before using a launch service to boost sales and reviews for your product you need to consider if its the right strategy to implement. Another consideration is the amount of product launches you do. It’s much better to do fewer launches with more products sold than to do more launches with fewer products sold each time. From our experience, launch services are best utilized by new brands with new products. Established brands with new products should definitely think hard before employing a launch service to bump sales and reviews. To mitigate some risk, a seller might create two product listing pages and use a launch service on one and market the other listing separately. You can always combine the listings later if you’re seeing some sustained growth and want to capitalize on the BSR and review count.

Amazon SEO your way to page one

You see, as well as selling my own branded products, I also consult and work with existing Amazon sellers who aren’t getting traction and brick and mortars that are looking to get into Amazon.

Here’s something I hear a lot: I need an SEO expert to boost my listing to page one on Amazon!

Each time I hear this, I need to explain that everything about this whole statement is wrong. To do well on Amazon, you have to at least have a basic understanding of how their algorithm works.

Amazon is not Google and even if it was, you can’t just wave a magic keyword wand and appear on page one.

A quick word on SEO

SEO is not some magic science and Amazon SEO is no different. Anyone who tells you they can organically get you to page one on Google or Amazon quickly is probably talking shit. Sorry to be blunt, but the quicker you understand this, the more money you’ll save.

Likewise, if you are paying thousands of dollars per month for SEO services, you should probably stop, now.

Sure, there was a time a few years ago when you could rank a site for Google quickly - those times are gone and people still trying to build low-value affiliate sites are yet to wake up and smell the coffee.

So, with that out of the way, let’s talk about Amazon SEO.

What you need to know about Amazon SEO

Amazon is a search engine too, but its goals are different to Google’s. Google wants to give uses the best experience, most relative information.  Amazon wants the consumer to buy as much as possible.
When you optimise your Amazon listing, all you are doing is making sure your listing has a better chance at conversion when someone clicks on it.

Simply peppering your listing with keywords will not boost you to page one, unless you in a very low competitive niche with a few pages of results.

Also, here’s something else a lot of SEO stuffing ‘specialists’ don’t take into account, Amazon only uses a few things for ranking keywords, don’t believe me? It’s right there in Amazon’s guidelines:

So, when someone says Amazon SEO me to page one baby! It simply isn’t possible.

So how do you get to page one on Amazon?

The most important thing you can do to get to page one is, drum roll, make sales.

Yes, there are many other ranking factors (have a look at this excellent article for a breakdown of all of the factors), but sales, click through rate and conversions are the 20% of work that will yield the 80% of your results (in this case, results mean getting your listing closer to page one).

Now ask yourself, how is the average ‘SEO specialist’ on Fiverr or Upwork going to do that for you?

You shouldn’t even be asking for people to SEO and keyword you to page one!

The question you as a client or seller need to ask is: what plan of action do I need to strategically improve my listing ranking and sales over time.

By asking someone to SEO your listing to page one you are asking for trouble.

Why?

Because you’ll get floods of offers from low-grade ‘SEO specialists’ that will tell you exactly what you want to hear.

They will assure you that they will take you to page one because they want to land the job.
Ignore anyone who ever guarantees this – nobody can control Google and nobody can control Amazon.

That is the truth right there.

So can I strategically get to page one?

Yes you can and no, it has nothing to do with SEO keyword stuffing or sprinkling.

To get to page one, you need to generate a sales spike, in the words of Ryan Moran, yoga matt millionaire, you need to spike your BSR. To do this, offer your product for $1 dollar sale and run a campaign to your list, facebook group of use review services like Tomospan, Zonblast, or Amz tracker’s new review service.

By shifting a nice bulk of units in a short time frame, you will catapult your listing much closer to the front page. The one caveat is:  the more competitive your niche and the stronger the competition, the more units you will need to blast giveaway and the more money you will need to spend.

That’s it. That’s how you get to page one. To stay there, you’ll need consistent sales and conversions.
When your artificial blast takes you page one, you will start getting organic sales by virtue of being much higher up in the search results – it’s at this point that your properly optimised listing will start getting you more sales, a lot more, than your unoptimised competition.

Can I strategically rank for keywords?

Yes you can! Presuming you have properly researched your keywords, you need to make sure they are present in the listing and start running properly-structured Amazon pay per click campaigns.
The best thing about running Amazon PPC is that it will help you rank for your keywords (remember, more sales = higher rank).

How?

Customer types in a keyword using Amazon’s search field > Customer clicks on Sponsored Ad > Customer purchases product > Amazon takes note that the item just purchased should rank for that keyword.

More sales through that keyword = the higher you rank for organic search.

That is how you can actively take action and boost a product through the ranks, it’s very simple and perfectly white hat.

Boost giveaway + proper PPC campaign = boosted listing ranking for keywords
Magic ‘SEO optimised listing’ + nothing else = field of dreams

Stick to these rules and you can’t go far wrong.

If you want to boost your sales and take your business to a new level or just sell more to make a better life for your family, please take the time to learn what is possible and what is just old school internet marketing snake oil bullshit.

How to Rank an Amazon Product in Google Revealed...

which leads to ranking internally within Amazon...circle of domination

Below is a live case study and example of how to rank an Amazon product within Google, as well as internally. Once you tend to rank in Google, more traffic and sales create a snowball effect where you eventually dominate within Amazon as well. Two ecosystems for the price of one! SEO has typically been reserved to focus on Google, Yahoo and Bing, but Amazon has amassed a large eco-system over the years. In fact, Google said Amazon is its biggest rival in search But one of the best strategies we've seen in recent years is ranking Amazon products in Google in order to increase traffic, sales, and reviews which creates a positive feedback loop of increasing rankings within Amazon search itself. Google Search Traffic is incredibly targeted. Someone searching for organic coffee, wants to buy it most likely. It's a keyword product with commercial intent. Let's see this example:
Notice this Amazon listing is on page 1 of Google currently. Granted, it’s not #1, but it certainly enjoys at least some buyer traffic each day from this ranking.
Here is the product:
http://www.amazon.com/Camerons-Organic-French-Coffee-32-Ounce/dp/B002ESSASK
The Important Onpage SEO Factors are highlighted including the Title of the Product, description, star rating, # of reviews, and Questions and answers. Google Ranks this ahead of ALL other Organic Coffee products (more on that later), but let’s see how Amazon internally ranks for Organic Coffee.
The Organic Coffe listing in Google is not the same top one within Amazon. There is an Organic Coffee listing with the same star rating, 200 reviews more, ships with Amazon Prime, and is $10 cheaper. Amazon knows all these factors and decides to rank in internally (and rightfully so, it’s better in every metric), but Google continues to rank the other more expensive, less reviewed product. Why is that? It goes back to Google’s search engine algorithm. Google wants to show the most relevant, popular and quality user-experience result. It does this through 3 basic factors (outside of onpage search engine optimization)
1) Backlinks – Bloggers, Forums, Directories, Affiliates, etc. Anyone and everyone linking back to an Amazon page can be seen as a “vote” for this particular product
2) Social network signals – Are people sharing this Amazon product with friends and family? Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube, Google+, Stumbleupon, Linkedin, etc
3) User Metrics – Does the searcher click on the result, and do they stay on the page? This is a huge indicator to Google that the Amazon product listing is valuable. If a searcher doesn’t click, Google knows the headline/title is either irrelevant or boring and starts to show it less and less. Worse, if the result is getting clicked but the product page looks terrible, the searcher may hit the back button and “bounce” right back to Google.
Let’s analyze why this product listing is ranking in Google and not the others
Notice the Domain Authority, 88! Amazon is so highly trusted by Google, that it’s inner pages (product pages) also get the benefit of the doubt. This means you can build more backlinks to your products and social and have a greater impact than if you built your own website and tried to compete. That is the beauty of Amazon SEO, you play within the ecosystem and dominate. Backlinks + Social + User Metrics = your Amazon product will outrank the competition in Google, which in the long run will allow you to rank internally in Amazon.
